Judy Bennett is an herbalist who formulates herbal combinations based on a model that addresses the needs of the whole person. Kelly’s Apothecary and Herbal Dispensary is now carrying a variety of herbal teas for you to enjoy. All Kelly’s teas are blended with herbs harvested from organic sources.

How to make an infusion (tisane):
  1. Place herb in a cup, add one cup of boiling water, allow to steep, remove herb and enjoy.
  2. Place herb in a pan of cold water, cover. Allow water to very slowly come to just about a boil. Remove from heat just prior to boiling. This method makes a stronger more medicinal infusion.
  3. Place herb in cold water, bring to a boil, and let it steep overnight. This method can be drank cold or warmed up the next morning. This is also a strong tea, with more medicinal properties. This method is called a diffusion and is used when roots are in the mixture.
  4. Place herb in a glass jar filled with water. Ensure lid is tight fitting. Place in direct sunlight and remember to bring inside at night. Infuse the tea for 5-6 hours. This infusion is wonderful in the summer, where you can add a sprig of spearmint or lemon with some ice cubes. Makes a wonder drink for a hot relaxing day.
